QUEER THE CENSUS--Next month (March), the LGBT Center will present an extremely timely presentation on why it's so vitally important for all of us to get involved and be counted in the 2010 Census ... which begins in April. Thanks to LGBT Center member Bob Waldron for taking the lead in representing us at meetings and fact-finding research. Bob notes that many advocates are urging us to affix a bright pink sticker available online with which to seal your return census envelope. Boxes on the envelope enable you to check whether the mailer is from Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, or Straight Ally Citizens. Order your free sticker, learn more, and indicate your support by signing a petition to have us counted at the Web site for Queer the Census.

Participants must be 18 years or older, currently be in a relationship with the same-sex partner with whom they have planned and created a family, and have at least one child under the age of 18 living in their home. Linking and Connecting Our World
'Tom Girls' on This American Life

Lilly and Thomasina have a lot in common. They’re
both 8 years old. And they were both born boys, although it became clear pretty early on that they'd prefer to be girls. There aren’t all that many kids in the world like them, but recently, at a conference in Seattle on transgender parenting, they met. And they immediately hit it off. They could talk about things with each other that they'd never been able to share with other friends back home. And that’s comforting, even if they never see each other after the conference ends. Producer Mary Beth Kirchner tells the story, with production help from Rebecca Weiker. (17 minutes)
